What you need
- Polygel nail kit
- E-file and buffer
- A nail brush
- A set of dual forms
- Primer
- Base coat
- An LED lamp
- A top coat
Prepare your nails
The first step of applying polygel nails with dual forms is to prepare the nails. Polygel nail is a long term nail extension, so nails must be prepared before application. It increases the durability of the polygel.
At first, shape your nails with a nail cutter and file the nail down to prevent breakage. Then buff the nails to get a smoother nail bed. Your nails are ready for polygel application.
Choose the proper sizes of the dual forms
Take your time and find out the proper sizes of dual forms that match with your nail. Properly check the size by keeping dual forms on your nails. You can choose a slightly bigger form than the natural nail bed because if you choose that is smaller than your nail bed, it may cause cracks and broken nails.
After too much attempt to find the best match, if your nails do not fit any of the dual forms, you can resize them. Besides whose index area is round, they also need to resize the dual formula with a sharp scissor. You can use the dual form over and over again.
Apply primer and base coat
Now, let’s start the application formula. Apply the primer and a thin layer of base coat to protect the natural nail bed. Base coat helps to adhere polygel perfectly, and it also increases the durability of the polygel nails. Be careful the base coat should not touch the cuticle or the sidewalk. And let it dry.
Squeeze polygel into the dual form and shape it
Squeeze your favorite color polygel from the polygel tube into the dual form. Take a nail brush and dip it into any rubbing alcohol. It will prevent the gel from getting stuck with the product.
Make sure the nail brush has not carried much liquid. It will damage the polygel by mixing with it. Use the brush to make the nail shape with the polygel into the dual form.
When applying the polygel, make sure you create the cuticle area and the sidewalls thin. Leave more polygel in the center because this is where the apex will be.
Apply the dual form on the nail
Apply the dual form on the nail at a 45-degree angle a little bit towards the cuticle of the natural nail and press it gently. Do not press hard. A slight product may squeeze out from the side of the dual form. Not to worry. Clean them with the brush and push the dual forms toward the cuticle carefully.
Do not forget to fix the underneath with the nail brush. After preparing the polygel properly, cure it into the LED for one minute, and remove the dual form.
Try to make the cuticle area thin while applying polygel into the dual forms. So, the cuticle area will look more natural and transparent after applying to the nail.
Shape the nails
Use an E-file to shape the nail. Make the same length and same size of all nails. At first, file down the length, then file the underneath to make the underneath smooth and perfect.
There may be some flaw or thick part underneath the nail. E-file will make the underneath perfect. You need to file the side and the curve of the nail to make the nails a natural shape.
Make sure not to file the natural nail bed, only file the polygel nails. Then use a nail buffer on the surface area of the nails to make them smooth and shiny.
Apply top coat
Clean all the dust that comes because of filing the nails. Then apply a top coat to give your polygel nails a shiny and glossy look. The top coat will protect the polygel nails from cracking.
Mistakes that should avoid
- Choosing a smaller dual form according to the nail size. It can cause cracks on the nail side or breakage of the nails. So, it’s better to choose a bigger one from the nail.
- When applying polygel into the dual form, applying too much product is a big mistake. If there is too much product in the sidewall of the nail, it will not provide you the desired result.
- Pressing the dual form on the nail too much is another big mistake. The polygel will squeeze out, and you will not get the structure that you need.
- Avoiding the underneath area to fix, is also a mistake.
- Do not file the polygel nails too much. File the length and excess process and make a thin nail.
You can see how easy the application procedure of polygel with dual forms. Usually, polygel nail extension is not a less time-consuming manicure method. You have to do your nail extension carefully taking some extra time.
But I assure you, you will get a great result after following all the steps properly. Polygel is odor-free, and it has not any harmful chemicals. So, you can keep them as long as you want.
